Hindwing
In most Lepidopteran families the frenulum has a single stout bristle in males and (usually) 3 more slender bristles in the female. This provides a useful means of sexing specimens when other external features are similar and the genitalia are not visible. However in Coleophoridae the frenulum is composed of a single stout bristle in both sexes.
