Male genital key: Sacculus with a convex anterolateral margin, without a distinct anterolateral angle or projection and ending bluntly; valvula projects only a little beyond apex of sacculus.
C.potentillae, C.ahenella and C.binderella have very similar genitalia. C.binderella is best distinguished by its ferruginous forewing, (the other two species being shining fuscous), but it also has a more pointed saccular apex.
