Group H: Identification from the female genitalia
All of these species have a small thorn-like signum in the corpus bursae.
2. Antrum sclerotised and long (extending about the length of the ostial plate anterior to the anterior margin of the ostial plate)
2a. Short (~quadrate) densely spiculate area immediately adjacent to anterior end of antrum > 37.101 Coleophora albicans
Anterior apophyses shorter than ostial plate, antrum extending anterior to the anterior end of the anterior apophyses 2b. Long densely spiculate section of ductus bursae with a long tail > 37.086 Coleophora versurella Spiculate section about same length as distance from posterior margin of ostial plate to junction of antrum with ductus bursae; tail extends anterior to spiculate section for about same length as spiculate section. Corpus bursae with a scobinate signum as well as the thorn. |
All remaining species in this group have an elongate spiculate section at the posterior end of the ductus bursae.
3. Strongly sclerotised section of ductus bursae anterior to the spiculate section
3a. Spiculate section of ductus bursae about as long as ostial plate; sclerotised section of ductus bursae slightly longer than spiculate section
> 37.085 Coleophora squamosella 3b Spiculate section of ductus bursae longer than ostial plate; sclerotised section of ductus bursae much shorter than spiculate section > 37.090 Coleophora artemisicolella |
4. Antrum sclerotised but not so long as in 2; no strongly sclerotised section of ductus bursae, moderately long spiculate section (1-2x length of ostial plate), with a tail.
4a. Antrum expanded between ostium and anterior margin of ostial plate > 37.104 Coleophora adspersella
Tail extends anterior to spiculate section of ductus bursae for a length shorter than the spiculate section 4b Antrum similar width to ostium between ostium and anterior margin of ostial plate, but with a short expansion at anterior margin of ostial plate > 37.080 Coleophora virgaureae Tail extends anterior to spiculate section of ductus bursae for a length greater than the spiculate section |
