Most similar to C.coracipennella and C.spinella with which it was considered conspecific until 1980. Also very similar to fuscous C.serratella.
Male genitalia
VT ring with a very wide separation of V&T which are connected by the base of the valvula. V entirely composed of a "V"-shaped anteroventral saccus, the ventral surface of which covers the bases of the sacculi such that they are impossible to lay flat without destroying the saccus. Tegumen tubular. Uncus broad with a shallow apical concavity (in the natural position). Sacculi triangular; anteroventral margin (medial) slightly sinuate; anterolateral angle (posterior) somewhat produced; lateral margin (posterior) short and shallowly concave. Valvula broad, about as long as sacculus; costa attached to tegumen. Transtilla extends medially from point of attachment of valvula to tegumen and then turns 90° anteriorly to fuse with its partner forming a sheath around the base of the dorsal surface of the tunica. Juxta an elongate band from dorsal surface of saccus extending anterodorsally to base of the ventral surface of the tunica. Tunica simple, long, straight, fully sclerotised. Vesica shorter than tunica; a broad diffuse annulus; a strong linear cornutus with a small fine cornutus attached at its base, entirely in the vesica. |
Male genital key: Sacculus small and triangular with a sinuate anteroventral margin, a distinct anterolateral projection, without a posterolateral projection; cornutus entirely in vesica.
|
Female genital key: Ductus bursae without a heavily spiculate section in its posterior ⅓, heavily spiculate in its anterior ⅓; ostium opens as a narrow slit in the ostial plate.
