Formerly placed in a separate genus: Metriotes largely based on larval feeding habits.
ID: Group C - plain
Genital dissection required to distinguish from other species in Group C Keyed in MBGBI3 as: hindtibia hairy; dorsal abdominal spiny patches covered by scales; costa straight.
The only species in the family that does not have a hairy hindtibia is C.limoniella and that is easy to exclude on forewing characters. I have yet to demonstrate that the spiny patches are covered by scales - but if that can be demonstrated this species could be identified without genital determination. |
