Formerly considered conspecific with 37.034 C.frischella and 37.046 C.deauratella. C.deauratella was recognised as a separate species in 1976. C.alcyonipennella was split from C.frischella ~2000 and subsequently found to be the more common species. Treated as C.frischella in MBGBI3, but confusingly, C.alcyonipennella is listed as a synonym for 37.106 C.paripennella.
Wingspan quoted here is based on specimens I have examined; UK Moths gives ~12mm and Hants Moths 11.5-14.5mm.
